Bloodlines Weapons and Artifacts
Weapon types, schematics, soul-binding, and armor progression.
Jutsu are only half of Bloodlines combat — weapons and artifacts carry you through the early game and remain vital at endgame. This reference explains weapon types, how schematics work, how to keep gear through permadeath with soul-binding, and how armor scales with your rank.
Weapon types
Early on you can freely buy and swap between weapon types such as sword, kunai, spear, or fists. It does not matter much at first, but later you should main one type so you can craft that type’s schematics and exclusive gear (like greatswords). Each weapon has M1 (left click) and M2 (right click) attacks, and some clans buff specific weapons — Hoshigaki, for example, gets buffed Samehada damage.
Schematics and crafting
As you commit to a weapon type, you unlock schematics that let you craft stronger, exclusive versions of that weapon. Crafting materials come from bosses, quests, and specific NPCs, so a steady boss farming routine directly feeds your gear progression. Switching weapon types resets that specialisation, so choose deliberately.
Soul-binding: keep your weapon on death
Because every death risks your gear, soul-binding is one of the most important early actions. Speak to The Swordsman in the Training Grounds and pay a Chakra Fragment to soul-bind your current weapon. A soul-bound weapon cannot be lost on death. The only ways to unbind are selling it at a Merchant NPC or switching to a different weapon type (for example, kunai to greatsword). Always soul-bind before risky PvP or boss fights.
Armor and rank tiers
Armor scales with your village rank and is bought with Ryo at village NPCs. Each tier has Unascended and Ascended versions:
- Village armors (Durana, Sorythia, Rain, Snow) boost health, speed, and regen, and grant elemental damage multipliers matching the village (fire, wind, water, or ice).
- Anbu armor adds silent dashing/casting/jumping, a double-damage first hit out of combat, and darkened surroundings when chakra-sensed.
- Kage armor massively boosts health, speed, and chakra regen for the top-ranked player.
Upgrade paths and requirements are covered alongside ranks in the map, villages & factions page and the how to level up fast guide.
Artifacts and items
Bloodlines also features artifacts, trinkets, and consumables — Life Up Fruit and Chakra Fruit restore Life Force, elemental gems unlock jutsu, and event items grant seasonal clans. Manage these carefully, because on death you drop items (only one of each if you hold Arkoromo’s Blessing, otherwise half).
Gear priorities
- Soul-bind your main weapon immediately.
- Commit to one weapon type for schematics.
- Buy rank-appropriate armor as you climb.
- Stockpile Life Up Fruits before dangerous content.
Tie this together with your clan buffs, unlock supporting jutsu, and start with the getting started guide if you are new. Rank-appropriate armor often matters more than a flashy weapon early on, so upgrade gear as you pass exams.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions Bloodlines players ask most.
How do I keep my weapon when I die?
Soul-bind it. Speak to The Swordsman in the Training Grounds and pay a Chakra Fragment. Soul-bound weapons cannot be lost on death.
Should I use one weapon type or many?
Swap freely early, but commit to one type later to unlock its schematics and exclusive gear like greatswords. Switching types resets that specialisation.
How does armor progression work?
Buy rank-appropriate armor with Ryo at village NPCs. Each tier has Unascended and Ascended versions, with Anbu and Kage armor granting the strongest buffs.
What happens to my items when I die?
You drop items on death — only one of each if you hold Arkoromo's Blessing, otherwise half. Soul-bound weapons are the exception and stay with you.
